Putting it all together

One of the funnest parts of my job is figuring out how to make things work. This project was, well, right up my alley...puzzle pieces! I love a good challenge, and a retail client of BPI Media Group's needed help in creating a fun window display for their stores. As with most challenges, you learn and are better equipped for future tasks once you've got the puzzle solved.

  • The challenge: Wide-format produced window displays for retail client
  • The details: Cut puzzle-piece shaped materials to go on floor, hang from ceilings, stack on floor as mannequin risers and adhere as window decals.
  • The materials: fluorescent plexiglass (1/8" thickness in 48" x 96" sheets), 2" thick ultraboard (black/black/black), clear duratex cling material-printed, palight (3mm thick)-printed.
  • The tools: AGFA Anapurna M2500 wide format printer and Colex Router/Cutter.
  • The process: With assistance from BPI's graphic designer, Leisa, a puzzle template was created in vector format to allow the shapes to be sized based on the end use. Palight used to cover the flooring area was printed with a black outline to make the puzzle shapes stand out. Palight was cut into individual puzzles pieces then assembled as a solid base. Ultraboard was cut into puzzle shapes to create 4" and 2' risers for the mannequins to sit or stand in the window displays. Clear cling material was used to print the puzzle graphics and cut around the perimeter in the puzzle shape. And finally, the last piece of the puzzle...plexiglass in four bright hues (pink, purple, green and blue) were cut into individual puzzle shapes and drilled with 1/4" holes for hanging using clear fishing line from the ceiling. Some of the plexi puzzle pieces were even printed in white with brand messaging.
  • The results: Way cool brand messaging in a unique, bright and eye-catching window display for the client drawing in more customers to their store.

How can we help you with your next print project?

It's been a while, folks, but there's a reason for that-work! Time on the road and new equipment and services offered by BPI Media Group have kept this girl inundated with learning new terminology, substrates and sharing it with BPI's customers and prospects. I'll share a few things with you, so you can see exactly what we've been up to lately, and we haven't abandoned traditional offset printing or digital printing as you can see in the photos! The new technology is just a part of the mix that makes BPI such a well-rounded print partner.

Our recent prospect campaign appealed to those with a sweet tooth. Utilizing our digital press, we used variable data to personalize the candy wrappers and packaging. The "ingredients" list all of BPI's services for your daily dose of value-added services.

Templates introduced to digital printing also allow us to make the "flat" printed piece come to life with options such as flip-pix. Check it out!

The addition of our wide format machine and router now allow us the opportunity to explore substrates such as paelite and plexiglass making signs for customers and BPI.

Magnetic materials that consist of three components (metallic paint, interlock and printed piece) show the ease of which you can change out visual graphics. This is by far one of my new favorite mediums!

For more about visual magnetics, check out http://www.visualmagnetics.com/Products/Installation-Video. In this case, the video is worth a 1,000 words!

Let's not forget about the hub of BPI's business-traditional offset printing. We love it, we do it well, and we do it every day. Let us help you with your next catalog or print collateral project!

Until next time...Elizabeth

Measuring Success

We at BPI Media Group have a philosophy: We measure our success by the success of our customers. They not only make us as a company successful, but our customers were the key in having a successful open house last week in Boaz. Thank you to all of you who visited us, took plant tours, talked with our team and learned a bit more about our capabilities. Your presence there made the day so much fun and hopefully provided more opportunities for us to be successful together.

Enjoy a few photos that our very own prepress tech, Russ, took for us throughout the day. If you'd like to request a link to view the full photo gallery of our event, drop me a note, and I'll be happy to share with you. The wall, door and floor graphics shown are just a few examples of some of our new capabilities.
