Let's Start Something New

For a few years, networking has been an integral part of my work life. This became more of a priority to me when I moved to South Carolina and had very few contacts and zero customers in the Upstate. Boy, am I glad those things have changed (and will keep changing). Working for BPI Media Group has allowed me the opportunity to meet some pretty incredible people (some I am fortunate enough to call friend and customer), but BPI has also allowed me to expand my territory and help other marketers.

While I enjoy the network groups I attend regularly, and I have found a new customer or prospect here and there, the time has come to start something new-something for the people with whom I work closely, marketers. It's very early in the developmental stages, but with the help of good partners and fellow marketers, the Upstate will soon have a chapter of AMA. I couldn't be happier to be recruiting the committee to help me start this venture and next step to take our networking to the next level in our area. New challenges bring new focus, and the formation of an AMA chapter will allow us to talk with people who deal with the same challenges and share the same triumphs over successful marketing campaigns. Let's face it, we can all learn so much from each other and a diversity of marketers offers many opportunities to see how a campaign is approached, executed and tracked.

For me, this is a project that will be near and dear to my heart as I continue to work alongside the brilliant minds of marketers in creating marketing and event campaigns to launch a product or service, promote an event or offer promotions to the consumer. Whether it's B2B or B2C, I truly enjoy working with creative people who blow me away by their strategies and ideas. I'm the lucky one who gets to help them execute the campaign and track the results using BPI's online dashboards and reporting tools. Whether you're an online strategist, event planner, graphic designer, social media specialist, web guru or C-level marketer, I think this group will have something to offer and help us all grow.

If you're in the Upstate and want to join me in starting this networking group, drop me a note. I'd welcome your input and any help you can lend to get the chapter offer the ground. I promise, you don't want to miss this "meeting of the minds."

Hang On--It's a Wild Ride!

Even though I've worked at BPI Media Group for over twelve years, and have been in sales for about nine of those years, the ups and downs of sales still amaze me. There are days when you dial, leave voice mail and repeat this for hours. Then, there are days when the phone rings nonstop, and the emails keep rolling in and there aren't enough hours in the day. Does your company go through ups and downs like this too? The times when the phone is ringing and emails are rolling in are directly related to a series of outgoing calls, packets mailed or a direct mail campaign executed by BPI.

Some of our most successful times are those when our outbound marketing efforts are clear, relevant and consistent. I'm guessing that no matter what business you're in, the same applies to your sales. The peaks and valleys of sales are both frustrating and exciting, but with a clear marketing plan that isn't sporadic, BPI can work with you to help keep those sales numbers even or better-increasing. Here are a few ways we can help:

  • Direct Mail Programs
  • Versioning and Cobranding of Collateral
  • Trigger-based Subsequent Touches
  • Dashboards with Real-Time Reporting
  • Web-to-Print Portal for Improved Efficiencies in Marketing Team
  • Cross-Media Campaigns

If you're tired of the crazy roller coaster ride of sales, let BPI help!

Put Your Name on It!

I have to admit, when I get a piece of mail that has my name on it (besides in the address block), I get a little giddy. I love to see that marketers are using variable data to communicate with me 1:1. Now more than ever, it is imperative for companies to target their customers and prospects with a relevant message. What's more relevant than calling me by name and having a message that's tailored just for me?

Here are a few ways BPI Media Group can help you embrace 1:1 communications in your marketing plan:

  • Variable Data on Direct Mail Using Digital Printing
  • 1:1 Conversations via Personalized Landing Pages (aka pURLS)
  • Data Segmentation to Create Relevant Messaging
  • Versioning Collateral to Reach Different Groups of Customers and Prospects
  • Cross Media Integration (such as QR Codes, eMail Marketing, Special Offers/Coupons)
  • Personalized Give-Aways or Promo Items(think a personalized iPhone cover with your top prospects/customers' names to show you value their business)

Here are a few more examples of how you can create customized messaging to reach your customers and prospects with the most direct and relevant messaging.

Who's Your Ideal Prospect?

One of the things we as a sales team at BPI Media Group have been focusing on lately is defining our ideal prospect/customer. We started with a pen and paper and made a list of the top characteristics we look for in an ideal customer. Think of this as searching for a mate--what qualities does this person possess? Since this is something I get asked often at networking events, "Describe your ideal customer," I am grateful to have clear and concise answers to this question next time it is posed.

Once we defined the characteristics of our ideal prospect/customer, the next step was putting together a plan to reach them. It didn't dawn on me at first, but this is very much like courting. You have to make that initial contact and let them know you're interested and what you have to offer. For BPI, we can offer solutions. These solutions range from making a tight deadline on a direct mail campaign to providing an online portal where team members can order template-based collateral. Defining our solutions and how they relate to each individual ideal prospect has helped us get more meetings which we are optimistic will equate to new customers and increased sales.

Do you need help defining your ideal prospect and how to reach them? Let BPI help! We'd love to sit down with you and put these characteristics on paper and help develop a plan to reach them through integrated marketing, assessing your current data, creating a multi-drop mail campaign or creating fresh collateral with which you can contact them. Let's work together to reach our ideal prospects and turn them into long-term customers.

Are You Ready?

As I got ready for a run this morning, I was reminded how prepared you have to be each time you head out the door. Since I was getting up early, I even laid out my running gear last night, so I could quickly get ready and be on my way without delay. Shoes: check. Running attire: check. Hat: check. Windbreaker: check. iPhone case for arm: check. Water: check. Running buddy: check. Even though I use the same type of gear every time I run, there have been improvements in gear, shoes, and even technology with all the super-cool running apps out there to track your run with maps, time, calories, etc.

As a marketer, are you ready to help your company grow its sales? BPI Media Group has the "gear" to help you get out the door and capture those sales. If you need the help of a "buddy," BPI would gladly help. We can help you choose the gear that you need whether it's deciding if print on demand with digital printing could help you save cost and provide an efficient solution for your distribution channels or aid in creating design or even just templates for personalized options. Our technology with Kodak Insite proofing system can help you shave time off your production schedule, and our cross media campaigns (including purls, sms text, email, direct mail and QR codes) can help you track the results of your campaign in real time.

So as you plan your next marketing campaign, let us help you with get prepared. Working together, we can help you have a better campaign or project to execute and assist your company in boosting sales.

Until next time...Elizabeth
