Hang On--It's a Wild Ride!

Even though I've worked at BPI Media Group for over twelve years, and have been in sales for about nine of those years, the ups and downs of sales still amaze me. There are days when you dial, leave voice mail and repeat this for hours. Then, there are days when the phone rings nonstop, and the emails keep rolling in and there aren't enough hours in the day. Does your company go through ups and downs like this too? The times when the phone is ringing and emails are rolling in are directly related to a series of outgoing calls, packets mailed or a direct mail campaign executed by BPI.

Some of our most successful times are those when our outbound marketing efforts are clear, relevant and consistent. I'm guessing that no matter what business you're in, the same applies to your sales. The peaks and valleys of sales are both frustrating and exciting, but with a clear marketing plan that isn't sporadic, BPI can work with you to help keep those sales numbers even or better-increasing. Here are a few ways we can help:

  • Direct Mail Programs
  • Versioning and Cobranding of Collateral
  • Trigger-based Subsequent Touches
  • Dashboards with Real-Time Reporting
  • Web-to-Print Portal for Improved Efficiencies in Marketing Team
  • Cross-Media Campaigns

If you're tired of the crazy roller coaster ride of sales, let BPI help!

Anticipation and Reward

Have you ever worked toward a goal that seemed like you'd never accomplish or anticipated a big pay off that seemed the check always got "lost in the mail?" That's exactly how I've felt lately after working for over a year and a half to get an account. Now, I can proudly say, they are a BPI Media Group customer, and I couldn't be happier to have the opportunity to work with them. I've trained for marathons, put in all the hours of training, cultivated accounts over a long sales cycle, and it seems every time, you forget all that work when the reward is finally realized.

Nothing beats the feeling of reaching a goal or reaching a "high water mark" in your career or life. My commitment to myself, BPI and my customers is that I will strive to improve to bring the best I have to offer to the table...every day. After all, not only do my customers and BPI deserve it, but so do I. The reward is sweet, but the getting there is equally satisfying. Success is usually not reached singlehandedly either...with a great team behind you, it is a little easier and also nice to share that success with your friends, family and coworkers who helped along the way.

What Not to Do

Have you ever watched the show on TLC called "What Not to Wear?" Being a minor fashionista, I watch it fairly often to make sure I'm not breaking any rules that would lead to an embarrassing wardrobe situation. I was reminded of this show the other day while waiting in the lobby at a customer's office. This short recap of what transpired isn't about fashion, but it's about how we armour ourselves as representatives of our company.

Scene: I'm standing in the lobby in front of the receptionist's desk while she is tracking down my appointment (he was away from his desk). In walks an older man with messy hair and his shirt was a bit rumpled.

Diaglogue: Man: "Great, there's two of us. I hope you're not the competition. Payroll services here." Me: "No, sir, I'm not in payroll, but the receptionist will be right back."

Action: He walks to the desk, tosses a business card on her desk, turns around and walks out the door.

Result: Receptionist returns and asks me about the mysterious business card now on her desk, so I told her what had happened. She tossed his card in the trash immediately.

I wasn't sure if it was the man's attitude or his lack of material to leave behind that bothered me the most, but after thinking about this, I wish I would have asked for his card. I want to talk to the marketing folks at his company to see if they need sales materials for their reps to "leave behind" on sales calls. BPI Media Group could print collateral for them--pocket folder, capabilities sheets, company overview, services brochures, etc. We could even set them up on a storefront where the reps can log in and order stationery, collateral, promo items, etc so as never to get caught without anything to leave behind to explain more about how their company can be of service.

If your company could benefit from BPI's online system where your reps, different offices or departments or channel partners can order materials online to help promote your company and boost sales, we need to talk.
